About Us: HAWAI‘I TOURISM WORKFORCE ADVISORY COUNCIL
Background
The Tourism Workforce Advisory Council's mission is to develop and improve the quality of Hawai‘i's tourism industry workforce and encourage opportunities for career development and upgrading for present and future employees. Council members represent a cross section of stakeholders including labor, management, education, and employment and trainings programs in the public and private sectors. The Council was established as a part of the Tourism Workforce Coordination project, a partnership of the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority (HTA) and the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR). The Council's goals include:
- Address the human resource component in Hawai‘i's tourism industry
- Provide accessible information on career development and upgrading opportunities for tourism industry
- Facilitate development of accessible educational training opportunities statewide
- Promote employment opportunities for Hawai‘i's tourism workforce
