Topics covered in this course include basic math skills as they relate to Solar PV systems, the basics of electricity, load estimation, energy efficiency, solar site surveying, photovoltaic system components and installation concepts. This is a basic course which will give those new to the industry insight on what PV is about.
This is a prerequisite course for those with no PV experience. Taken with Introduction to Solar Photovoltaic Design and Installation, this course prepares participants to sit for the NABCEP PV Entry Level Certificate of Knowledge exam.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

1. Recite and use the 8 basic ratings of electricity and PV:
Voltage
Current
Resistance
Power
Energy
Solar Irradiance (Solar Power)
Solar Irradiation (Solar Energy)
Efficiency

2. Recite and use the 4 basic electrical equations:
Voltage Equation (Ohm's Law)
Power Equation
Energy Equation
Efficiency Equation

3. Estimate a reasonable answer before starting math calculations.

4. Efficiently find specific information within the textbook.
