CCNA 2: Routing and Switching Essentials
@ Honolulu Community College
CCNA 2 describes the architecture, components, and operation of routers, and explains the principles of routing and routing protocols. You will analyze, configure, verify, and troubleshoot the primary routing protocols RIPv1, RIPv2, EIGRP, and OSPF. By the end of this course, you will be able to recognize and correct common routing issues and problems. Each chapter walks you through a basic procedural lab, and then presents basic configuration, implementation, and troubleshooting labs. Packet Tracer (PT) activities reinforce new concepts and allow you to model and analyze routing processes that may be difficult to visualize or understand. You will enjoy PCATT's NetLab which streamlines the delivery of your labs.
Required Preparation: Must have knowledge and abilities comparable to completion of CCNA 1. Concepts include understanding of the seven layer OSI and four layer TCP/IP models, ability to subnet IPV4, knowledge of basic router commands and EIA / TIA 568 specifications. Must have access to computer with Windows as well as Internet access outside of class to complete assignments.
Course Competencies: At the end of this course, the student will be able to:
- Design and implement a classless IP addressing scheme for a network
- Configure and verify router interfaces
- Configure a static default route
- Demonstrate configuration with routers implementing RIPv1, RIPv2 and OSPF
- Discuss the advanced technologies in the LAN segments
